Advocacy and Leadership

Marie has a long history of advocacy and community service, having worked locally and nationally for over 20 years.

"I began by volunteering at the Granby Marie at her Campaign Kick-offCouncil On Aging and working with my State Representative on elder issues. I continued my advocacy efforts by going to Washington D.C. to fight for research funding for diabetes."  Marie's volunteer service also includes the Women's Auxilliary for the Granby Fire Department, running a talent show to raise money for the grand piano at the Church of Christ, and being a Granby Lion.

Marie knew she wanted to work for her community in a more impactful way. When the Woman's Fund of Western MA offered a leadership course (LIPPI), she signed up immediately.

"The LIPPI course gave me the confidence and tools I needed to be the leader I wanted to be. Since I graduated in 2012 I have been more active in the community and in town government, including being on many committees as well as elected to the School committee for 4 years, and on the executive board of the local food pantry."
